Texas A&M Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Aggies
2023-24 Season Outlook
The Texas A&M Aggies are in better shape than most teams in the conference with four starters back from last year’s roster and a nice mix of transfer portal additions ready to contribute. Head coach Buzz Williams is fresh off his first SEC Coach of the Year award and his first appearance in the NCAA Tournament with the Aggies after four seasons.
There’s not much reset in the game plan for Texas A&M heading into Coach William’s fifth season and that looks to be a good thing. Without much roster turnover and a lot more promise in Wade Taylor IV incoming with help from the additions of Jace Carter and Eli Lawrence on the offensive end, it will be interesting to see how things play out for this group.
Carter’s ability to knock down shots on the perimeter should take some of the pressure off Taylor in Year 3. He’ll also have Lawrence off the bench that he can look to to make things happen. He’s another name with the potential to score in a variety of ways for this squad heading into a new season.
Wildens Leveque’s development in the painted area as an addition out of the Atlantic 10 will be key for this group, though they can still rely on Henry Coleman III and Julius Marble to hold things down in the frontcourt if things don’t work out.
All in all, there should be another NCAA Tournament appearance in the cards for the Aggies this season. Depending on how they finish up the year, they could find themselves seeded anywhere from No. 3 to No. 7 in this year’s field as an at-large or even as high as a 2-seed should they win the SEC Tournament. Anything can happen with this group.
