The Bluejays kick the non-conference portion of their schedule off on Nov. 7 against Florida A&M then host North Dakota State, an always scrappy squad. Creighton will then face off against the Iowa Hawkeyes for the first time since 2011 in the Gavitt Tipoff Games in Omaha in the third game of the season. It’ll be a challenge though, the Bluejays won the last meeting 82-59 and have won five of the last six meetings between the teams.
Creighton will return home for a game against Texas Southern on Nov. 18 before heading to Kansas City, Missouri for the Hall of Fame Classic on Nov. 22-23. They’ll open things up against Loyola (Chicago) then play the result of Boston College/Colorado State the following day. Creighton holds at 2-1 record over Loyola (Chicago) and won the last meeting 70-61 back on March 19, 2019.
After the Hall of Fame Classic, the Bluejays will have back-to-back road games. First up, they’ll face the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Big East-Big 12 Battle. Both teams haven’t met since the 1998-99 season. After that, Creighton will travel to Lincoln to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers to kick off the month of December’s schedule. The Bluejays lost last year’s meeting 63-53 at home.
Central Michigan will visit Omaha on Dec. 9 before the Bluejays travel to Las Vegas to face UNLV in their final road game of the non-conference slate. In their final home game of the nonconference schedule, Creighton will square off against Alabama of the SEC. Creighton holds a 2-0 advantage in the overall series history in that one.
With three true road games and an early neutral-site matchup against the Hawkeyes, the Bluejays should be well prepared for Big East Conference regular-season action when it kicks off on Dec. 20. Look for the Bluejays to hover right around last year’s win total of 14 in conference action. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them finish in the Top 3 once again with their returning trio of Ryan Kalkbrenner, Baylor Scheierman and Trey Alexander.
