TCU Basketball returns with head coach Jamie Dixon in 2023-24 looking to become a mainstay in the NCAA Tournament. The toughest part for their group has been competing in the ever-talented Big 12 Conference. The conference continued to grow and attract more talent, but so did the Horned Frogs.

This upcoming season, the Horned Frogs will look to some added depth out of the transfer portal to get over the hump after losing in the second round of last year’s NCAA Tournament to the Gonzaga Bulldogs by three points. They still finished fifth in the conference standings at 9-9 on the year and earned a 6-seed in the West Region of last year’s tournament field.

Coach Dixon has one of the most talented groups (on paper) as he looks to make it three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in a row with TCU. He’s a head coach who continues to build a legacy in another Power 6 Conference and this season, he’ll have a well-season group of veterans who have the potential to be very good defensively.

Emanuel Miller sets the tone in the frontcourt and his leadership will be key in this team’s success. He’ll have Chuck O’Bannon Jr. alongside him in the starting lineup and Micah Peavy, JaKobe Coles and Xavier Cork will be hungry to contribute a whole lot more off the bench.

The Horned Frogs struck gold in the transfer portal in adding Jameer Nelson Jr. (Delaware), Essam Mostafa (Coastal Carolina), Trey Tennyson (Texas A&M CC), Avery Anderson III (Oklahoma State) and Ernest Udeh Jr. (Kansas) to a returning group with a solid chemistry already. If they can figure out Coach Dixon’s system quickly and find their roles, they’ve got an opportunity to be a very dangerous squad come March. Take a look at the 2023-24 season preview for TCU.
