TCU opens the season against a lot of low-major talent with Southern, Omaha, UT-Rio Grande Valley, Mississippi Valley State, Alcorn State and Houston Christian on the home non-conference slate to begin the year. November will be an early test of team chemistry for them as they look to build some with Jameer Nelson Jr. leading the way at point guard and Esaam Mostafa joining the frontcourt. They should have a ton of confidence heading into their lone road game on the non-conference schedule against Georgetown in the Big East-Big 12 Battle.
TCU holds the lone win against the Hoyas in their series history, which also came on the road for the Horned Frogs back on December 18, 2021. The Horned Frogs will travel to Ontario to face the Clemson Tigers in the Discount Tire Hall of Fame Series Toronto at the Coca-Cola Coliseum. TCU is 0-3 against Clemson in the team’s history. Their last loss came in a neutral-site game in Las Vegas in overtime back on November 24, 2019.
The Horned Frogs return home on Dec. 16 to host Arizona State before heading back out to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic. They’ll open things up with Old Dominion with the potential of facing Nevada/Temple on Dec. 22 and either Portland/Hawaii and Georgia Tech/UMass depending on how things pan out. TCU has a good chance of being in the championship game on Christmas Eve in this one.
TCU will bring in the New Year against Texas A&M-Commerce before beginning conference play. The Horned Frogs should be in good shape heading into Big 12 action with this year’s non-conference schedule. They’ll have some odds to overcome in a few matchups but given their returning experience and additions, they should still come out unscathed. They’ve got some depth in the frontcourt on their hands for opponents to deal with in the conference as Coach Dixon looks to win more than eight games once again with a rebuilt group.
