Head coach Eric Musselman recognized a formula long ago for pairing highly-touted transfer portal recruits together when he burst onto the scene back in the MWC with the Nevada Wolfpack. Now, he’s a recruiting staple for transfer portal prospects as he continues to build his legacy with Arkansas Basketball in the SEC.

Coach Musselman and his coaching staff are ready to face some adversity in 2023-24 as they return just two starters from last year’s 22-14 squad. They upended 1-seeded Kansas in last year’s NCAA Tournament as an 8-seed before falling to eventual National Champion UConn in the Sweet 16.

This season, they’ll look to rebuild the rotation with five returners from last year’s lineup and seven newcomers out of the transfer portal. Davonte Davis and Makhi Mitchell are the leading returning names while the return of Trevon Brazile looms, as the team hopes he can return to his trajectory pre-injury. The transfer portal class is led by headlining names El Ellis (Louisville), Tramon Mark (Houston) and Khalif Battle (Temple). Ellis will look to retool the backcourt and Mark should be a two-way presence on the wing. Battle should be a familiar presence off the bench for Arkansas as their potential Sixth Man.

The Razorbacks have a chance to put together a solid group so long as chemistry bodes well. The non-conference schedule ahead is geared to build chemistry and other things, but it should certainly get interesting when Duke comes to town on Nov. 29. Take a look at the season preview for Arkansas heading into 2023-24.
