Alabama Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Crimson Tide
Key Reserves
Latrell Wrightsell Jr., Guard
Wrightsell is a transfer portal acquisition who should bring a ton of experience off the bench for this Alabama squad. He’s a 6-foot-3 guard who’s capable of operating at either guard role in backing up both starters. He averaged 16.3 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.4 apg and 1.5 apg on 38.3 percent shooting from behind the arc as a first-team All-Big West performer with Cal State Fullerton this past season. He also finished with a defensive rating of 96.3, good for fourth in the conference. He should add a ton of experience on both ends of the floor given his abilities.
Nick Pringle, Forward/Center
Pringle is another returning name for the Crimson Tide who should boost their frontcourt with his size and length on the interior. He’s a 6-foot-10 big man who saw action in 36 games as a junior in 2022-23, posting 3.5 ppg and 3.1 rpg on 84.7 percent shooting from the floor. He’s an upperclassman who should boost their bench unit with his exploits around the rim.
Sam Walters, Wing/Forward
Walters is one of a few freshmen names who should contribute off the bench and could even see himself crack the starting rotation if all goes well in his debut. He’s another highly rated prospect who averaged 23.0 ppg, 9.9 rpg and 2.2 apg on 56 percent shooting from the floor as a high school senior. He’ll look to boost the perimeter attack with his ability to stretch the floor as a shooter.
Jarin Stevenson, Forward/Wing
Stevenson is a freshman wing/forward with an opportunity to make an impact right away out of Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class. He’s a versatile presence at 6-foot-9 who’s capable of distributing the ball, knocking down shots on the perimeter and rebounding in bunches. He’s an effective player when he’s on the hardwood by always knowing where to be on the floor. He’s got an underrated IQ for making things happen.
Mouhamed Dioubate, Forward
Dioubate is a big man prospect out of the Crimson Tide’s 2023 recruiting class who should bolster their bench with what he can do at either forward role. He’s a 6-foot-7 prospect who can operate at either forward spot given his ability to defend on the perimeter and operate around the rim on both ends of the floor. He should compete for bench minutes in his freshman season.
