Losers: Wake Forest Demon Deacons

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons could find tough sledding in the ACC regular season conference schedule if they don’t work a few kinks out. They’re another squad that’s 1-1 as head coach Steve Forbes enters his fifth season on the sidelines following an 80-77 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Wake Forest dropped an early road game to the Georgia Bulldogs this past Friday. They were stellar from behind the arc, shooting 11-for-30 from deep, as a team but inside the arc, they struggled. The Demon Deacons shot just 41.2 percent from inside the arc.

Newcomer Hunter Sallis has suffered from a shooting slump of sorts through the first week. He’s shooting just 37.5 percent from the field but 37.5 percent from deep. He’ll need to take his time around the rim as his scoring presence will be much-needed this season. He’s still averaging 16.0 ppg through two contests, he’ll just need to do it more efficiently from the mid-range and in.

Now, this isn’t panic territory for Wake Forest just yet, but they’ll need to get wins where they can as they look to win more than 10 games in conference play in January. They’ll need to handle Utah and Charleston Southern this week.
