Winners: Clemson Tigers

The Clemson Tigers have shown in the early going that they could be a force to be reckoned with this season as they’re off to a 3-0 start through Week 1. The Tigers faced some early adversity in trailing to the Davidson Wildcats in the Asheville Championship, but they didn’t falter. They came back in the second half with a much different energy and in turn, they ended up turning things around for a 68-65 victory.

PJ Hall and Joe Girard III led the way with 17 points apiece. Hall recorded seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks while Girard recorded five assists. The Tigers outscored Davidson 45-37 in the second half to surge to victory after trailing 28-23 at the half. Their bench stepped up in a big way with 27 points to outscore Davidson’s 24 bench points.

Clemson has shown that they’re more than just a two-headed monster as RJ Godfrey (10 points, 7 rebounds) and Alex Hemenway (9 points, 2 assists, 2 steals) were the ones off the bench to step up this go around. It wouldn’t be surprising to see everybody step up as a collective before the season’s end as Clemson is a squad with some underrated size and depth in the conference across the board.
