Michigan State Spartans

This one is admittedly controversial and unlikely when you consider how little Coach Tom Izzo likes the portal. So imagine the odds of him adding someone midway through the season? That being said, desperate times call for desperate measures. If Michigan State loses to Baylor this weekend, they’ll be 4-6 on the season and could go from preseason top-5 to miss out on the NCAA Tournament altogether.

The frontcourt has been a major issue for the Spartans. Centers Mady Sissoko and Carson Cooper have struggled, while five-star freshman big man Xavier Booker isn’t even getting minutes at this point. The guards, led by Tyson Walker, and AJ Hoggard, are still good enough for them to accomplish some things this season. In a desperate move, Izzo may want to consider using that open scholarship.

Missouri Tigers

The Tigers have been okay to start the season but are missing its All-SEC forward, Kobe Brown. The frontcourt mixture of Noah Carter, Aidan Shaw and Connor Vanover is going to have some struggles in SEC play. So why not see if they can make another addition before league play?

Coach Dennis Gates showed last season that he can make it work with transfers from the mid-major and high-major ranks. And Brown is currently in the NBA after a great past senior campaign. Tomlin, who is a former JUCO transfer himself, would be an easy fit for the program.
