A marquee college basketball showdown is set for Monday night at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah, as the top-ranked Arizona Wildcats travel to face the BYU Cougars. Arizona enters at 20–0 on the season and is coming off a comfortable home win over West Virginia. BYU is 17–2 and riding momentum after a convincing rivalry win over Utah on Saturday.
Arizona has been dominant of late, winning back-to-back home games over Cincinnati and West Virginia by an average of 25.5 points. The Wildcats also own one of the strongest resumes in the country, highlighted by nonconference wins over UCLA, UConn, Auburn, Alabama, and San Diego State. The road ahead is demanding, with a trip to Arizona State on Saturday followed by a February stretch that includes Kansas, Texas Tech, BYU, Houston, Baylor, Kansas, and Iowa State.
BYU has enjoyed an excellent 2025–26 campaign, but a win on Monday would be program-defining. Handing Arizona its first loss of the season would be a major statement in the Big 12 race. The Cougars’ only conference loss came on the road at Texas Tech, but they rebounded by scoring 91 points in a home win over Utah. Freshman standout AJ Dybantsa was sensational in that game, pouring in 43 points. BYU’s other loss came early in the season against UConn. After this matchup, the Cougars head to Lawrence to face Kansas on Saturday.
