As if the nonconference season hasn’t given us enough excitement, December brings an undefeated matchup in East Lansing as Duke and Michigan State features a matchup of Top 10 teams with major expectations this season.

The signs from Duke (9-0) early have been pretty great, as the Blue Devils blitzed their way to a hot start. This team already has four wins over power conference foes, with double-digit victories over Texas and Kansas, a Thanksgiving thriller against Arkansas, and then that close call earlier this week against Florida. Do Cameron Boozer and company have enough for their first major test on the road?

Let’s not ignore what Michigan State (8-0) has accomplished in the early weeks of this season either. An early win over Arkansas was nice, but the Spartans won by double-digits against Kentucky and North Carolina away from home before a decisive 19-point win over a hot Iowa squad earlier this week. The Spartans are exceeded expectations once again and have a great opportunity in their last big nonconference tussle.

The player to watch in this game is clearly Cameron Boozer, one of the top players in the entire nation. That star freshman and how he’s handled by the Michigan State bigs is something to certainly watch, though Tom Izzo will likely have a game plan. These teams have both looked incredibly capable this season and it’ll be interesting to see how Duke handles that tough road environment and how the Spartans handle Boozer and the rest of this young talent.

Will Boozer have another fantastic performance and get enough support to keep this unbeaten start going on the road? Does Michigan State continue a brilliant defensive start to their season and take care of business against their strongest opponent yet?
