The Iowa Hawkeyes hit the road Wednesday night for a Big Ten matchup against the Purdue Boilermakers at Mackey Arena. Iowa enters at 12-4 overall and looking to stop a brief skid, while Purdue sits atop the Big Ten standings at 15-1 and continues to look like one of the league’s most complete teams.
Iowa has dropped back-to-back games, first on the road at Minnesota Golden Gophers, then at home against Illinois Fighting Illini. This game opens a challenging stretch of consecutive road contests, as the Hawkeyes will travel to face the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday.
The Hawkeyes’ best win of the season came on January 3, when they knocked off the UCLA Bruins. Iowa also owns quality victories over the Maryland Terrapins and Ole Miss Rebels. Their other losses this season came against the Michigan State Spartans and Iowa State Cyclones.
Purdue comes in riding a seven-game winning streak and fresh off an eight-point victory over Penn State Nittany Lions. During Big Ten play, the Boilermakers have also picked up an impressive road win at the Wisconsin Badgers and a home win over the Washington Huskies.
The Boilermakers’ lone loss came on December 6 against Iowa State. Purdue’s strongest nonconference wins include victories over the Auburn Tigers on December 20 and the Texas Tech Red Raiders on November 21.

Game Outlook
Iowa should come into this matchup with urgency after consecutive losses, but the challenge level increases significantly at Mackey Arena. Purdue’s guard play has been steady and efficient, and the Boilermakers continue to control games with strong interior production on both ends of the floor.
For Iowa to stay competitive, perimeter shooting will be critical. If the Hawkeyes can stretch the floor and knock down shots early, they can keep pressure on Purdue. Even so, this sets up as a tough road test against one of the Big Ten’s most balanced teams and should deliver another entertaining conference battle on Wednesday night.
