The Ivy League men’s basketball race has wrapped up, and the field is set for Ivy Madness in Ithaca. As always, only four teams advance to the conference tournament, making every regular-season game matter just a little more.

This year’s bracket features a mix of proven contenders and programs trying to break through, with the semifinals and championship set for March 13-15 at Newman Arena at Bartels Hall on the campus of Cornell.

The 2026 Ivy League men’s tournament field

Based on the final regular-season standings, the top four teams are:

  1. Yale Bulldogs: 10-3 conference, 22-5 overall
  2. Harvard Crimson: 9-4 conference, 16-11 overall
  3. Pennsylvania Quakers: 8-5 conference, 15-11 overall
  4. Cornell Big Red: 7-6 conference, 14-12 overall

Yale enters as the regular-season champion and the team to beat. The Bulldogs have been the league’s most consistent program in recent years and once again carry the inside track to the NCAA Tournament automatic bid.

Harvard surged late to secure the No. 2 seed, while Penn and Cornell round out the bracket after a tightly packed middle of the standings.

Teams that just missed

  • Princeton Tigers: 5-8 conference, 16-11 overall
  • Columbia Lions: 5-8 conference, 11-15 overall
  • Dartmouth Big Green: 5-8 conference, 9-19 overall
  • Brown Bears: 3-10 conference, 9-17 overall

With only four spots available, strong overall records do not guarantee entry. Princeton, despite a solid 16-11 overall mark, fell short in league play and will not be part of Ivy Madness this season.

What to watch in Ivy Madness

Yale’s balance and experience make the Bulldogs the favorite. They have defended at a high level all season and shown they can win tight games on the road.

Harvard has multiple scoring options and the confidence that comes from closing the regular season strong. Penn has been steady offensively, while Cornell will look to use its home-court familiarity in Ithaca to spring an upset.

In a league where there is no margin for error, the Ivy League Tournament always feels urgent. Two wins, and you are dancing. One bad half, and your season is over.

That simplicity is what makes Ivy Madness one of the most compelling conference tournaments in March.
