Michigan State, North Florida, and other picks for college basketball big games tomorrow

Championship week starts with two games in the Atlantic Sun. The first game should be fantastic in that league tournament. Michigan State highlights the biggest winners of a lighter Sunday schedule.

After a loaded Saturday that saw a ton of movement on the bubble here is the second to last Sunday of the regular season. There is a conference tournament that begins today as well. Here are the biggest games of the day.

No. 11 Wisconsin at No. 8 Michigan State prediction and pick

The Badgers have been one of the most surprising teams in the country this year. They were expected to be good, and they are, but they were also expected to play the grind-it-out, low-scoring Wisconsin basketball. That has not been the case the Badgers can score and score quickly. They can get out and run the floor and have one of the favorites from the Big Ten Player of the Year in John Tonje. Wisconsin can still win the Big Ten with a strong finish and can make sure they get a top 2 seed in the NCAA tournament if they keep winning. The Badgers are good enough to put a lot of pressure on Michigan State in Breslin.

It’s officially March, which means it is time for head coach Tom Izzo to shine. The Spartans are playing like the vintage Michigan State teams of the past. They get inside the paint for easy baskets, will get out in transition and get easy points in the paint. Michigan State is tough and they will be physical underneath the basket. The Spartans will defend and are fundamentally sound like every coach Izzo team. Michigan State isn’t flashy, and they don’t have to be to win. This is the best coach Izzo team we have all seen in a while, and this one can win a National Title, but first, they have a Big Ten regular season title on their minds.

North Florida vs. Austin Peay prediction and pick

This is the first game of the Atlantic Sun tournament. This means that championship week is officially here. North Florida has one of the best offenses in the country. There is not a team in the country who takes or makes more threes than the Osprey. As good as the offense is, the defense is one of the worst in the country. The Osprey can not stop anyone, but because of their ability to score at will, they are a huge sleeper in the Atlantic Sun. North Florida beat South Carolina and Georgia Tech this year

Austin Peay had good non-conference wins when they beat Butler and Chattanooga in back-to-back games. They looked to be one of the best teams in the Atlantic Sun. Then reality set in, and those were the only good wins for the Governors as they entered this game with a 13-18 record. The Govs beat North Florida in their one matchup this season and scored 97 points. Austin Peay will likely replicate that same game plan against the Osprey’s porous defense.
