At the time this was written, we are mere hours away from the Selection Committee revealing the bracket for the 2026 NCAA Tournament. Around the country, hundreds of teams have poured their blood, sweat, and tears into college basketball and we’re about to see some of those dreams come true and those realities dashed in the blink of an eye.
Conference tournaments really are filled with both elation and agony, as it’s the final time many teams across the nation ever play together. However, it’s a brilliant moment for those selection few who win their leagues and get that instant invitation to March Madness. Clearly, in prominent leagues like the Big 12 or SEC it’s not the final refrain for all of the losing teams.
While we’ll hear stories from teams of all shapes and sizes, much of the attention this season has focused on the best of the best. We get the coverage of the elite contenders, the notable power conference teams that boast the future NBA stars. It’s not an accident that these teams are the ones we’ll see competing weeks from now in this event and it’s why we’re focusing just on who’s the best right now.
Specifically, we’re taking one final look at our Top 25 rankings and updating them just hours before Selection Sunday shows us the bracket. There are still a few championship games on Sunday afternoon that could shake things up, but we’re pretty confident about where many of these teams stand right now. We’ll begin running through who we believe are the top teams after the entirety of the regular season and wonder just who has the best chance of being this year’s national champion.
