Duke Basketball: 3 keys to victory on the road against UNC in top-10 matchup
Jeremy Roach remains a spark off the bench
Jeremy Roach was the spark off the bench that the Blue Devils needed in their 10-point victory over the Hokies on Monday night. They'll need him to replicate that once again in a hostile environment against RJ Davis and company.
In just three games back, Roach has been used in a variety of ways as Duke has maintained a three-game winning streak in ACC play. This team is very guard-heavy, but Coach Scheyer may have found some balance in bringing Roach off the bench and starting Tyrese Proctor, Caleb Foster, and Jared McCain in the backcourt.
Roach made quite the impact in 29 minutes off the bench on Monday night, racking up 16 points and four assists on 5-of-11 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc. He was one of four players who finished scoring in double figures for the Blue Devils in the victory.
Now, Roach coming off the bench against Virginia Tech could only be temporary. He's returning from battling a combination of knee and ankle injuries. He could find himself as a reserve once again on Saturday. It's worth noting, the Blue Devils don't have a very deep squad and Coach Scheyer typically plays a eight-man rotation.
