Tyrese Hunter has chosen the Memphis Tigers heading into his senior year of college basketball. Hunter previously played for Iowa State before eventually committing to play for the Texas Longhorns for the 2022–2023 season.

Hunter made his decision on April 22nd, per Joe Tipton.

The talented guard stands at exactly 6 feet tall, weighs 175 pounds, and is from Racine, Wisconsin. He averaged 11.1 points per game, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists, all while shooting 45.2 percent from the field. These scoring numbers have stayed relatively the same throughout his career; however, his impact on the floor does not go unnoticed.

As a freshman, Hunter jumped right out of the gates, already diving into double figures with 11 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists. The year after, his scoring total dipped a tiny bit as he managed just 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.

Despite not being a 20-point scorer, it's fair to say that Hunter can put the ball through the hoop.

One stat that should not go without mention is his three-point shooting, rising to 34.3 percent from the 27.4 percent that was left after his first year as a college athlete.

The 2023-2024 season for Hunter shined the brightest during his 30-point outing against the Oklahoma Sooners back on March 9th, as they were victorious en route to their 94-80 win. In addition, he was able to collect seven dimes and three assists in 37 minutes of play.

The video produced by College Basketball Scouting displays that Hunter likes to get into the lane and drive around basketball, just like most guards do. He's also a shot hunter (no pun intended) who is not shy about pulling from wherever, whenever. A tremendous passer who likes to find his teammates no matter what stands in front of him.

Hunter is a shooter who is more comfortable letting it go from the catch spot rather than off the dribble. Although that area of his game can be improved with just the right help, fortunately his coach played in the NBA and became a four-time All-Star.

Great job by Coach Hardaway for securing this kind of player—someone who can provide offense without any worries.
