NCAA Basketball: Jeremy Roach, Oumar Ballo among week's top transfer portal pickups
It's another week of the NCAA Basketball transfer portal and over 200 more names have announced their new landing spots. Some are complete surprises, while others were more or less expected.
Last week, I did a list of 50 names and for the foreseeable future, I'll keep it at that range each week. We had a number of players who averaged at least 15 ppg at their previous stop so some solid players had to be left over.
Here are this week's top-50 transfer commits. Honorable mentions include Zed Key (Dayton), Cam Corhen (Pitt), Tre Donaldson (Auburn), KD Johnson (George Mason), AJ Smith (Charleston), and John Hugley (Xavier), and Nick Boyd (San Diego State).
50. BJ Omot - North Dakota to Cal
2023-24 season stats: 16.7 ppg and 4.2 rpg
The 6’8 wing/forward was an explosive athlete at the Big Sky level, having 13 games of at least 20 points. One included a career-high 30 points on 10/15 shooting against Kansas City. He’s as athletic as the guy he’s replacing, Jaylon Tyson, who is off to the NBA Draft. We’ll see how Omot’s game translates to the ACC level on the revamped Bears’ roster.
49. Micah Parrish - San Diego State to Ohio State
2023-24 season stats: 9.3 ppg and 4.1 rpg
The versatile 6’6 wing was a key part of San Diego State’s national title game run over a year ago, while also being a capable double-digit scorer. This past season, Parrish had eight games of at least 14 points, including 15 versus Washington. He projects to be a solid rotation piece for Ohio State, giving them a needed defensive wing.
