USC Trojans

New Coach Eric Musselman landed 11 transfers this offseason and brought with him two four-star wing prospects (Isaiah Elohim and Jalen Shelley) from Arkansas. He landed just about all of his top targets, with the exception of Kentucky transfer point guard, DJ Wagner, who followed Coach Calipari over to Arkansas.

The reason why that is important is because the Trojans don’t have a true point guard on the roster. The two “ball-handlers” on the roster are Bryce Pope (18.3 ppg and 1.9 apg) and Clark Slajchert (18.0 ppg and 2.9 apg), two mid-major transfers who are more scorers than pure passers who can run the offense. If they don’t work out, USC could be in big trouble so having Fears as an “in case of emergency” option would be helpful.

Washington Huskies

Another Big Ten team that could be looking for a ball-handler is Washington, who also has a new-look roster under 1st-year head coach, Danny Sprinkle. Among the new guards include transfers, DJ Davis and Luis Kortright, as well as incoming freshmen, Zoom Diallo and Jase Butler, another former Illinois guard commit in the 2024 class.

It’s unknown what kind of impact Diallo will have but for a team that doesn’t have any proven ball-handlers at the Big Ten level, adding one more to the mix wouldn’t hurt. Plus, with all of the key guards being seniors, it wouldn’t be a long wait for Fears to have a large role in the rotation.
