NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 3 teams for 4-star 2025 wing Jordan Scott
Another class of 2025 NCAA Basketball has updated their respective recruitment in the month of July, as Jordan Scott is now down to three teams. He's a 6'6 true wing from the state of Virginia, ranked in the top-60 overall and a consensus four-star prospect.
Scott's all-around ability makes him an intriguing long-term player to watch down the road, capable of scoring anywhere on the court and projects to be a classic "3 and D" wing at the college level.
But which of the following three teams will ultimately land Scott? Here's a closer look at how he'd fit with each of the contenders.
Maryland Terrapins
The Terrapins thought they had their wing of the future in Jamie Kaiser, a former top-40 prospect from the 2023 class. But he opted to transfer out after his freshman year. They added senior transfer Selton Miguel to the roster and sophomore DeShawn Harris-Smith can play at the three-spot. But there's definitely room for Scott to join and be part of the rotation as a freshman and give them a true wing to work with.
Michigan State Spartans
Another Big Ten team looking for a wing will be Michigan State. Senior transfer Frankie Fidler will be around for one year, along with Jaden Akins, who was the team's starter at the three-spot. While incoming freshman Kur Teng could play some on the wings, the Spartans could use a natural option like Scott. And since they rarely take transfers, he wouldn't have to worry much about being over-recruited.
Virginia Tech Hokies
The wing position really opened up for the Hokies, losing guys like Mekhi Long, Tyler Nickel, and MJ Collins, replacing them with freshman propsect, Tyler Johnson. What's interesting here is that Sin'Cere Jones is a forward commit in the 2025 class so Scott would instantly have competition. Still, with open spots at the four-spot as well, Virginia Tech could still offer room for another wing and have a versatile future lineup.
All three teams can reasonably offer playing time early to Scott, though the Big Ten schools may look more appealing. With the Hokies being the "local" option, they could have a leg-up in this specific recruitment.
