NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 4 teams for George Mason transfer Keyshawn Hall
Keyshawn Hall was one of the top players in the A-10 last season. Now in the transfer portal, which NCAA Basketball teams are now in the mix to land him?
Although they were in "rebuild mode", it was a successful past season for George Mason, finishing in the top-half of the Atlantic 10. The big reason was breakout star, Keyshawn Hall, who led the team with 16.6 ppg and 8.1 rpg. The 6'7 guard/forward had 10 games of at least 20 points, including a 25-point effort in a win over Davidson.
Hall missed the final few games of the season, which allowed the Patriots to lose early in the conference tournament. He entered the NCAA Basketball transfer portal, where he received a good amount of interest. Now, he's reportedly down to a few power conference options.
Here's how he fits with each of the contenders.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Right now, new coach John Calipari has just one player on his roster, former Kentucky center, Zvonimir Ivisic. So there's plenty of room for Hall to come in and likely start. The Wildcats didn't have any power forwards on the roster or in the 2024 class to come over outside of Adou Thiero. That being said, it'll be a risk for Hall to join right away since who knows who else will be joining the Razorbacks.
Michigan State Spartans
Hall has a similar game to Malik Hall, a versatile forward who started for the Spartans last season. He's gone, leaving the team with a clear hole at the four-spot. Hall would be a nice fit with them, giving them an offensive boost since both Hall and starting guards (Tyson Walker and AJ Hoggard) gone from the team. And right now, it's the roster most likely to win next season.
UCF Knights
The Knights are looking for a better second year in the Big 12 and is trying to get as much talent as possible. On one hand, Hall would have a large role if he picked the Knights. But they recently landed Benny Williams, a transfer from Syracuse who has shown he can play at the power conference level. Hall may have to play out of position to make things work lineup-wise.
USC Trojans
Coach Eric Musselman isn't at Arkansas but he clearly still wants Hall, now at USC. They landed another A-10 player in Josh Cohen, one of the top-scoring centers in the league. Pairing him and Hall would make for an elite offensive frontcourt in the Big Ten, though it would be a concern on defense.
Michigan State is the easiest of the four options to envision a role, while USC and Arkansas is rebuilding from scratch. Could UCF, where Hall is currently visiting, be a darkhorse option to watch?
