The Wake Forest Demon Deacons were one of the few surprise teams in the ACC this past season. They matched head coach Steve Forbes' best finish since taking over on the sidelines, finishing fifth in the ACC standings and appearing in the NIT. Wake Forest finished in fifth place in the conference standings back in 2021-22 under Forbes.

With two of their top two scorers back from a season ago and a rejuvenated Efton Reid III in the frontcourt, it looks as though this group is ready to turn a corner heading into Forbes' fifth season at the helm. After finishing 21-14 on the year and 11-9 in conference action, they're poised to be a dark horse in the ACC title race.

The transfer portal was good to Wake Forest this offseason as they acquired five names from across the college landscape looking to prove themselves even more with a change of scenery. The loss of Kevin Miller to SMU certainly hurts, but the arrival of Ty-Laur Johnson, TreVon Spillers and a few others should change all of that.

Optimism should be at an all-time high for this group. There's a lot to build on with the return of Sallis, Hildreth, Reid and their portal additions. Could an NCAA Tournament appearance be on the horizon for the Demon Deacons? Take a look at the season preview for Wake Forest.
