12. Mississippi State Bulldogs (13-14, 5-9)
It’s been said many times this season that without Josh Hubbard, this team would be a complete disaster. He went full Superman in the win over Auburn, scoring 46 of his team's 91 points - his sixth game this season with 30 or more points. Although against South Carolina, we saw what happens when he struggles from the floor. Without his bulk scoring, MSU couldn’t snag the road win. The Bulldogs have an extremely tough end to the conference schedule, but with only four games left to play in the regular season, a sixth straight season with an 8-10 SEC record is still on the table.
11. Auburn Tigers (15-12, 6-8)
A NCAA Tournament selection was seriously starting to become in doubt following the loss to Mississippi State this week, giving the Tigers their fifth consecutive loss. However, the one-point win over Kentucky on Saturday might have saved Auburn's postseason hopes. At times this season, Auburn has played like a tournament-quality team. However, you’d never really know it over the past couple of weeks. Auburn gets three of the bottom SEC teams over the final two weeks of the season. Barring any colossal meltdowns, the Tigers should finish the season at worst 9-9, and should be playing meaningful basketball come tournament time.
10. Georgia Bulldogs (19-8, 7-7)
Much like Auburn, Georgia’s postseason odds were heading in the wrong direction coming into the week. The Bulldogs have lost five of their last six games, with their only win being against LSU. So wins over Kentucky and Texas, projected NCAA Tournament teams, more than likely saved Georgia’s season. For a large part of SEC play, the Bulldogs' offense had been a shell of itself, especially when compared to the numbers they were putting up early in the season. But scoring 86 and 91 points against two of the better SEC defenses, during conference play, was just the confidence builder this team needed heading into the final stretch.
09. Texas A&M Aggies (19-8, 9-5)
The Aggies can finally take a breath. After losing four straight games, Texas A&M picked up two more wins this week - though they were much closer than those in College Station expected. But at the end of the day, a win’s a win, even against the likes of Ole Miss and Oklahoma. There’s still plenty of time to get back into their top form. A&M, for most of the conference slate, was playing some of the best team basketball in the league. A postseason selection isn’t really in doubt, even if the Aggies aren't playing nearly as well as they were just a couple of weeks ago.
