Syracuse Basketball: 3 keys to victory against the Georgetown Hoyas
Contain the Big Four
The 2-3 zone is long gone from the Syracuse Orange culture and this year, it's showing itself mightily. The Orange are currently allowing 80.0 points per game, ranking 341st among all Division 1 programs in the landscape.
Syracuse will need to find their defense early or it could be another long game for them. Georgetown has already lost once on the road, which works in Syracuse' favor, however, they'll have their hands full in containing the Big Four for Georgetown in freshman Thomas Sorber and their trio of guards in Jayden Epps, Micah Peavy and Malik Mack.
Sorber leads the Hoyas with 15.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.7 blocks per game in the frontcourt while Epps, Peavy and Mack are also averaging double-figures in scoring. Peavy and Mack lead the way with 3.9 assists per game apiece.
At 6-foot-10, Sorber has proven to be a solid addition to the Georgetown frontcourt and has ultimately changed their trajectory under Year 2 under Coach Ed Cooley. Syracuse will need to use their length to match his size and intensity in the early going or it could be a long game for them as Sorber goes as the rest of the team does.
