A lot has happened in recent years at Texas, though the program seems to be maintaining some stability now under Rodney Terry. Last season was his first as full-time head coach and he took the Longhorns to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a pretty solid team. His Longhorns were a 7th place team in a tough Big 12, though their focus turns to different things from here on out.

It’s a whole new chapter for the Longhorns as the program transitions into the SEC alongside Oklahoma. Just two seasons removed from an Elite Eight run, Texas remains a high-profile basketball program that has the ability to make serious noise in their new conference. However, it’s pretty clear that life will be no easier in the SEC than it was in the Big 12.

Texas had its fair share of issues last season, finishing just .500 in conference play. However, Terry and his staff have spent the last few months cultivating and building a new rotation that could make serious noise right off the bat. The Longhorns lose most of the starters from last season and have few connections left to that Elite Eight run, but recruiting and transfers nicely fill out this depth chart.

We’ll look closely at those upgrades and new faces on the Longhorns’ roster, but there are several reasons to believe that this team will be better than last season. We’re diving into the roster, looking at some of the games to watch on the schedule, and will also make some overarching conclusions and predictions about what to expect. The next few months will be quite the transition, but are these Longhorns ready to surprise their new league?
