Under Armour Announces Rosters for the Elite 24 All-Star Game
While a group of elite Nike affiliated prospects jets to the Bahamas, Under Armour Basketball will be hosting a marquee event of their own. The Elite 24 All-Star Game will take place on August 22 at the scenic Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York.
This will be the 10th anniversary of the outdoor all-star game, but it will likely be remembered as the basketball world’s formal introduction to one of the most hyped basketball prospects since LeBron James. DeAndre Ayton, a six-foot-ten lean-bodied forward that evokes the image of a young Kevin Garnett, will make his national TV debut in the game.

Ayton has long been regarded as the top prospect in the Class of 2017, but some scouts believe him to be the best overall prospect in high school basketball, a distinction that would vault him past the numerous one-and-done prospects in the loaded Class of 2016.
While Ayton will be the game’s focal point, he will be joined by a bevy of talented players all looking to increase their national profiles before going into the markedly less competitive high school basketball season.
Josh Jackson is the best prospect in the Elite 24 that will represent the Class of 2016 (top 2016 prospects Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum are in the Bahamas with Nike). The Michigan native has a scholarship from almost every school in the country, and is at this point playing to attract attention from NBA scouts looking to get a jump on their 2017 draft preparations.
Local basketball fans will have plenty to cheer about during the contest, considering the game will include a good amount of local flair. Three players from New York City will participate in the game, most notably Rawle Alkins, the guard whose game is garnering comparisons to Lance Stephenson. Guards Shamorie Ponds and Hamidou Diallo will also be on hand to represent the five boroughs.
The two teams that make up the Elite 24 will be coached by four person staffs that each include a former and present NBA player. Team “EZ Pass” will include former North Carolina Tar Heel Jeff McInnis and Denver Nuggets rookie Emmanuel Mudiay on the coaching staff. Team “Doo Be Doo” will have former Texas Longhorn T.J. Ford on the sidelines along with Brandon Jennings of the Detroit Pistons.
