ESPN Scoreboard: North Carolina Beats Duke 62-56 in Chapel Hill

Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry teamed up for 43 points to pace Duke while North Carolina shot just 34-percent from the floor — 1-of-14 from behind the arc — but the Blue Devils couldn’t muster enough else firepower to outlast the resurgent Tar Heels in the regular season finale in Chapel Hill.

Er, that’s the story ESPN is running with, at least.

In a prime time production gaffe that’s as puzzling as it is funny, ESPN flashed the wrong score — with the wrong team winning — at the conclusion of Duke’s 69-53 pasting of rival North Carolina. Check out those Duke smiles after the team’s deflating six-point “loss.”

For what it’s worth, the president of ESPN, John Skipper, is a UNC grad. Freudian slip?
