The CBI is one of the four major postseason tournaments and the only one that airs on the CBS Sports Network and perhaps the one that is the butt of the most jokes.  Whether your team is in it, declines a bid, or even wins it, there’s sure to be a group of jokers that will make fun of the team.

Nevertheless, it’s a tournament and no matter who wins it, it’s going to be incredibly exciting to watch.  Especially when you factor in the unique attribute of the CBI Tournament–the finals are a best of three series.  It’s extremely odd but somewhat takes away the fun of the championship game.  I mean, imagine if the NCAA Tournament Finals were decided in a best of three series?  It’d be stupid.  Regardless of that, this is the CBI and it fits it perfectly.

Many of these teams you’ll recognize and you’ll certainly be disappointed to know that Ole Miss and Indiana both declined a CBI berth, forever depriving us of knowing that five-time national champion Indiana could carry the epithet “CBI Champions”.

The CBI is, of course, held at campus sites.  The sites for the first round are Oregon State, Texas A&M, Penn State, and UTEP.  Once the quarterfinals begin, the games are held at certain on-campus sites and those games will be shown on CBS Sports Network.
