Valparaiso head coach Bryce Drew announced that a player would be leaving his program on Sunday. According to the school’s website, guard/forward Clay Yeo will be leaving the program and continuing his college basketball career at Bethel College, which is at the NAIA level.

"“Our university and program have invested a lot into Clay, and we are proud that he has became a better man, a better student and a better basketball player from his time at Valpo,” Drew said in the release.“He has expressed a strong desire to be closer to his family and high school friends, so we are releasing him from his scholarship at Valpo to enroll at Bethel College.”"

Yeo played in 28 games for the Crusaders (one start), averaging 4.1 points per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 45.5 from three. With Clay Yeo only averaging 12.9 minutes per contest, his best game came against Oakland, as he scored 12 points and even hit a game-winning three as time expired.

While losing Yeo is not a huge loss in the production department, Valpo is already heading into the season without last’s two of their top three leading scorers. Attrition sometimes takes its toll, but this is unlikely to change the program’s expectations heading into next season.
