Notre Dame lands commit from four-star guard

facebooktwitterreddit

The Notre Dame Irish landed their third recruit for the class of 2015, earning the commitment from guard Rex Pflueger out of Mater Dei High School.

"I'm blessed to announce that I am verbally committed to the University of Notre Dame!"

Pflueger is a sweet shooting guard who is ranked four stars by both Rivals and 247sports and is a knockdown three point shooter. With the commitments of Elijah Burns, a power forward, and Matt Ryan, a small forward, the Irish are building a very solid class. ESPN ranks all three prospects as four-star recruits.

The high basketball IQ of Pflueger will give Mike Brey another weapon to work with offensively. Underrated as a passer, he can also create for teammates on the offensive end. In fact, ESPN raves about his ability, giving him quite the compliment on their scouting report of him (Insider).

"He has a high basketball IQ that is demonstrated through his pin-point passing ability – had a touch pass that was simply Pete Maravich-like in a game we saw."

While we highly doubt that he is a reincarnation of Pistol Pete, getting high raves as such tells you the skill set of Pflueger, who could become one of the more underrated recruits in the class.
