OG Anunoby commits to Indiana Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers already had one 6’8″ forward from Missouri in Juwan Morgan. On Tuesday, they added nearly a replica in three-star recruit OG Anunoby, a 6’8″ forward out of Missouri.

In his junior season, Anunoby averaged 21.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game. While he missed the final portion of his junior year with a wrist injury, his good showing during AAU tournaments this summer kept him on many team’s radars. In the end, he chose IU over Iowa, Georgia and Ole Miss.

Anunoby is another recruit along the profile that Tom Crean loves: athletic, but raw talents. Victor Oladipo was the most successful recruit to fit that profile, maturing into a first-team All-American during his junior season. More recently, Troy Williams fits the mold and fellow 2015 recruit Morgan is a similar prospect, if not more of a power forward.

Ranked 194th by 247composite, Anunoby still came in as the 4th best recruit in the state of Missouri, two spots behind Morgan.

Interestingly, IU’s lone senior is a non-scholarship player, meaning Crean could be over his allotted scholarship amount. However, with six players having transferred over the last two seasons, Crean may be anticipating another exodus this summer, freeing up a couple scholarships.
