Another top five school, another exhibition blowout. After catching the highlights from Kentucky’s exhibition game, the Kansas Jayhawks opened their season with a blowout exhibition win over Washburn.

The standout of the night was freshman Cliff Alexander, who appeared to be Kansas’ best player last night.

Alexander led the way for the Jayhawks with 14 points and 9 rebounds with 3 blocks as well. Sophomore Frank Mason III was the only other player in double figures, finishing with 13 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds, stuffing the stat sheets.

Highly touted freshmen Kelly Oubre finished with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in 21 minutes, but 4 fouls and 2 turnovers, showing that he is still a bit rough around the edges.

Kansas won’t have long to adjust, having just one more exhibition game and one regular season game against UC Santa Barbara before taking on Kentucky in the Champions Classic in Indianapolis.
