Adams game-winning lay-up in final seconds left gives UConn the win and puts them in a tie for third in the conference

The UConn Huskies continue to string together solid wins in conference play as they scored a 64-63 nail-biting win Sunday afternoon in Philadelphia versus the Temple Owls.

Jalen Adams played the hero for UConn as he scored the game-winning bucket on a lay-up with two seconds left in the game. Adams finished the game as the game with 13 points, as well as five rebounds and five assists. The guard scored four of those points in the final 65 seconds.

UConn trailed for most of the game. At one point, the Owls were up by 10 with more than eight minutes left in the game.

The Huskies, however, powered back, thanks to the efforts of Adams and Rodney Purvis. The senior scored 10 of his team-high 18 points in the final eight minutes of the ball game. Purvis tied the game at 60 thanks to a game-tying three with about a minute to go.

Temple lost despite having four players finish with double-digits, including leading scorer Daniel Dingle, who had 17. Shizz Alston Jr., Damion Moore and Alani Moore II each finished with 11 points.

The win for UConn gives them their fourth straight, and it also puts them in a third place tie with Houston in the AAC. UConn finds itself in a position that it can still possibly save its season, if they can run the table the rest of the way.

The Huskies started the conference season with a 2-4 record, including losses to SMU, Memphis and Tulsa.

Since that point, however, UConn has won seven of its last eight games, the only loss coming against Cincinnati. UConn still has Houston, SMU and Cincinnati left on the schedule. Wins over all three teams can help their cause with the selection committee.

What could help their case even more would be to win the AAC tournament, held in Hartford, by which they would claim the automatic qualifier berth.

The Huskies will try to make it five straight with a trip to Houston Wednesday night. Temple, meanwhile, takes on Central Florida Wednesday.
