The Sacramento Kings have just one pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. What are the best options for them to take at No. 40 in the second round?

Although they finished once again under .500 for the season, the Sacramento Kings had a great overall campaign. They had the most wins in over a decade with 39 and had a few young players like De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield become breakout stars in the NBA. There’s finally a foundation for the franchise to build on, as the upcoming NBA Draft nears.

The Celtics hate the fact that the Kings did well, as they controlled their draft pick this season. It ended up No. 14 after the lottery results, with Boston taking it. Sacramento will have their first round pick in the future, possibly even lower than 14 if things keep going positive for the Kings’ franchise.

But they do have a second round pick to work with at No. 40 and there is still plenty of talent available that could help the team. They’ve had success in the ladder half of the draft before, including selecting Isaiah Thomas at No. 60 in 2011. Sacramento also picked Hassan Whiteside the season prior at 33 and current rotation player Frank Mason at 34. Gary Trent Jr. was last year’s selection in the second round but was traded to Portland that night.

Sacramento seems to have their core set with Hield, Fox and Marvin Bagley III but still needs to fill out their rotation to make a legit playoff push next season. Which likely available prospects should the Kings target?
