Another Busting Brackets podcast episode is up and ready to go! How did the guys feel about what happened in the 2019 NBA Draft?

It’s time for another Busting Brackets podcast episode! This time it’s mostly about the 2019 NBA Draft, with hosts Connor Hope and Brian Rauf being joined by Trenton Corn (@theLob_Trenton) and Alex Weber (@Weber2MG) to discuss the highs, lows, and everything in between.

But before we get into the draft recap. the guys talk about the most recent news of UConn potentially rejoining the Big East. They’ve been in the newly formed American Athletic Conference after the Big East dissolved due the football-influenced realignment in 2010-11. However, the Huskies Basketball program has been in a state of mediocrity ever since winning the national title. The fellas give their thoughts on the move and how it affects all involved.

Now back to the draft, where the guys discuss the biggest winners and losers. They start out with some questionable selections in the lottery, including Rui Hachimura and Cam Johnson getting picked a little higher than expected. Bol Bol‘s freefall to the second round was brought up, along with Jordan Poole sneaking into the first round with Golden State as well.

The guys were very high on how New Orleans operated throughout the draft, including those no named Zion Williamson. But there was some disagreement about the potential of No. 8 selection Jaxson Hayes and his respective ceiling. Zion’s college teammates RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish were brought up as well, with predictions on how they’ll fare in the NBA. Comments were made about Reddish’s new team the Atlanta Hawks and how they’re set up for the future.

The discussion then goes from the lottery all the way down to players who wound up undrafted, including Zach Norvell and Luguentz Dort, two players who were expected to go in the top-60. What do their futures look like now that they have to fight for a roster spot?

To end the podcast, the guys look ahead to the Summer League and what to expect. Why is Alex Weber so excited to see the Boston Celtics play? Might have to do with a pair of fan favorites who were picked in the draft. It’s a 45-minute episode packed with a ton of opinions and information. Please give it a listen!
