With the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class getting the attention, what are some key storylines to watch out for?

As most of the top athletes in the class of 2020 NCAA Basketball recruiting group have been all but taken, the focus now gets to turn towards the next set of future stars. The clear-cut No. 1 player in the 2021 class is five-star forward Jonathan Kuminga, who has been linked to the top programs in the country.

There’s also a real possibility that he could reclassify to the 2020 class, making him able to play NCAA Basketball next season. That would shake up a lot of things, including propelling someone else to being the No. 1 overall player in the 2021 group. Per 247sportsComposite, that would be 7’2 big man Chet Holmgren from Minnehaha (Minnesota) high school.

Of course, that could very well change, with other five-star recruits such as Patrick Baldwin Jr., Jabari Smith and Jaden Hardy all capable of being No. 1 overall prospects as well. That’s a storyline to keep an eye on in the next 6-8 weeks but that’s certainly far from the only one to watch out for.

As well all know, recruiting has a huge impact on NCAA Basketball. With only a few available roster spots each season, coaching staffs have to hit on as many players as possible. Not only getting their signature is important but these days, making sure that those players make it to the team’s campus in the Summer and not change their minds and go pro.

These are some of the major storylines to keep watch of, along with several team and player-specific topics for the 2021 NCAA Basketball recruiting class overall. Here are 10 things to watch over the next 12 months.
