Top 10 Moments in NCAA Tournament History

Christian Laettner Becomes Immortal
Of course it is Christian Laettner because it is gosh slam Christian Laettner.
It’s funny to look back at it now. Laettner ended up being a solid pro, but nothing spectacular. That doesn’t diminish his college accomplishments or the fact he is one of the great college players ever, though. Still, because he never became as successful in the NBA people sometimes try to knock this version of The Shot.
This is certainly another example of something that everyone and their (respective) mothers know about. Grant Hill making the perfect length of the court pass, Laettner doing the slowest post-move (with no one really on him, mind you) ever and the ball going through the basket to give Duke the victory over Kentucky in the Elite Eight.
At this point, everyone might be sick of hearing about this moment. Major sports networks tend to shove it down our throat during this time of the year. That shouldn’t take away from the greatness of it, though. It also shouldn’t result in the weird, near hyperbolic Laettner related hate or love.
Laettner was a humorously tremendous college basketball player. He ended up being a solid pro. Heck, he was so good and important in college that he should be in the Hall of Fame. Even with all of that being said, are we really going to continue making Christian Laettner that polarizing of a figure?
Cherokee Parks was more polarizing!
