In 2008, the #1-ranked Tar Heels came to Charlotte with their mind on bigger goals for the post season.  They had just won their 26th ACC regular season title.  They were led by four future NBA players, including All-American, Tyler Hansbrough.  In the semi-finals they faced a Virginia Tech team led by their coach, Seth Greenberg, who didn’t care about UNC’s goals.

Virginia Tech pushed the Tar Heels’ to the brink.  As in many games before this one, Hansbrough put the team on his back and bailed them out.  With 1.7 seconds left he chased down a Ty Lawson miss, turned and nailed the baseline jumper to give UNC a 2-pt. lead and the win.

Hansbrough then did what has been described as a dinosaur high-steppin’ down the court.  See for yourself.  The Tar Heels went on to beat Clemson in the finals to win the championship.
