1988’s ACC Tournament returned to Greensboro where regular season champion, UNC, entered as the #1 seed.  They were led by star, JR Reid, and Jeff Lebo.  However, 3rd seeded Duke had beat the Tar Heels twice in the regular season.  Duke actually entered with a higher national ranking, led by Danny Ferry.

The teams battled back and forth before Duke prevailed and secured the rare 3-game season sweep of their rivals.  The game was also remembered for Coach K’s exuberant celebration at the end of the game.

Danny Ferry was the Tournament MVP.
