#2: Marcus Smart has ugly incident in Lubbock

Even though Marcus Smart would likely choose to forget the altercation with Texas Tech fan, Jeff Orr, it is still something that was extremely memorable in the Big 12 this year. It truly portrayed Oklahoma State’s current state at the time. The Cowboys had lost three straight and were on the road at Texas Tech in a game they needed to have.

With six seconds left in the game Smart went into the first couple rows and was confronted by Orr. Regardless of how Orr provoked him, there is no way Marcus should have responded with a shove the way he did. It cost him three games, and  more importantly the Cowboys took losses in all three.

To their credit though, Oklahoma State rebounded to win four of its last five and has put itself in good shape for a bid to the dance. I’m a firm believe in second chances and hope that Smart realized that he can never win against fans who crosses the line, even if the fan was completely wrong.
