It had been a long time since the Iowa State Cyclones had one a road game at Gallagher-Iba Arena, the home of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The last time it happened was 25 years ago in 1988. It took three overtimes, but the Cyclones were able to muster up just enough to beat the Cowboys by a score of 98 to 97. Five players in the game played over 50 minutes, including senior standout DeAndre Kane for Iowa State. In 52 minutes he had 26 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, one steal, and only two turnovers.
As good as Kane was, he was not one of the four players to record a double-double. That honor went to Oklahoma State’s Markel Brown and Le’Bryan Nash and Iowa State’s Melvin Ejim and Dustin Hogue. This was another great road to add to Iowa State’s resume, and was the third consecutive loss for Oklahoma State. With all of the gaudy numbers that players put up in this game it was a shame I don’t play fantasy basketball.
