42. Houston Rockets — Spencer Dinwiddie, SG, Colorado
H: 6′ 6″ W: 205 lbs DOB: 04/06/1993
2013-14 NCAA (17 GP) 14.7 PPG 3.1 RPG 3.8 APG 25.1 PER
Spencer Dinwiddie is predicted to go anywhere from right after the lottery to the middle of the second-round. That has a little to do with the fact that he is coming off an injury, which limits the 2013-14 tape people have of him, but most everyone knows how prolific a scorer this kid was and could be.
Houston obviously has a two-guard of their own who is their main-man-in-charge, but adding some depth behind him is a smart move. If there are games where the Rockets could give James Harden a rest and start a player the caliber of Dinwiddie, that doesn’t sound like a horrible plan to build off of.
Worst case scenario calls for Dinwiddie to not translate his scoring abilities to the next level. If that is the case, well, he is going to be in trouble. The NBA isn’t filled with prolific college basketball scorers who can’t score in the league. Dinwiddie is going to need to improve in other areas just in case he won’t be able to score with ease like he did while with Colorado. – Joe
