C.J. Fair’s an interesting prospect at the next level, as he doesn’t really scare anyone from behind the arc, isn’t great at creating his own shots, and is at best an average defender.
Now that we’ve gotten all of the negatives out of the way, Fair was much improved this past season in his mid-range game, is an above average athlete and thrives in transition, and has shown that he’s capable of taking his weaknesses and making them strengths.
Whether or not he’ll be able to continue to do that as a professional is a big question, but Fair doesn’t force his game and whoever winds up coaching him can count on getting a player with a high motor and a great work ethic. Put him with former teammate Michael Carter Williams and I think we’ll have fun watching those two in transition, if MCW ever decides to give up the ball. –Jared
