Seven Mountain West games to watch this season

Larry Nance led Wyoming in points, rebounds, steals and rebounds last season before tearing his ACL. If Nance’s recovery goes well, don’t be surprised to see the Cowboys on your bracket in March.

Wednesday, January 14: San Diego State at Wyoming, 11 p.m. EST
On January 14, the schedule presents us with a rarity: two Mountain West teams facing off in a nationally televised game, and this one could feature the eventual champion and runner-up in the conference. Despite losing Xavier Thames, the gap between San Diego State and the rest of the conference is supposed to be big enough that the Aztecs will still be the favorite to bring home the regular season championship.
Wyoming, a team that was in the running for an NCAA tournament spot before losing it’s best player Larry Nance Jr. to injury, is believed to be one of the favorites to finish second in the conference and contend for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Nance — whose father Larry Sr. is a former NBA All-Star — led the team in points, rebounds, blocks and steals before his injury. Wyoming looked to have a shot at making the NCAA Tournament when Nance was healthy, so don’t be surprised to see them on your bracket in March if his recovery goes well.
