2015 NBA Draft: Preseason Top 10 NBA Draft Prospects
By Jacob Rude
9. Sam Dekker, SF, Wisconsin
Dekker might be a surprise this high on the list, but I’m a fan of jack-of-all-trades types, and that’s what you get with Dekker.
While not a player who will blow you away offensively, Dekker is a solid scorer. He can’t break down defenders one-on-one, but he has a great nack for finding space on the court and getting room for his shot. While his shooting percentages took a dip last season, the increase in responsibilities with Wisconsin this year will show fans what to expect.
Dekker’s weakness is that he may be a product of Bo Ryan’s great system. It’s hard for jack-of-all-trades types to transition to the NBA, where being above-average at one skill set is almost required. Dekker has drawn comparisons to Kyle Singler, which seems fair, but be on the lookout for a big year from Dekker.
