Ryan Boatright (Point Guard), Senior – Connecticut

The lineage of UConn’s point guards reaches back to Khalid El-Amin knocking off Duke for the national title. Even recent luminaries such as Kemba Walker and Shabazz Napier were preceded by players like Taliek Brown and Jerome Dyson.

Handling the rock for UConn is a glamor position on par with lining up under center at Notre Dame. Ryan Boatright, now a senior, is the next man to carry the flaming floor general torch of success for the Huskies.

Shabazz Napier learned how to take over a game while watching Kemba Walker almost win the Huskies a national title single-handed in 2011. Last year, Napier became the teacher, as he guided the Huskies to an even more improbable title, with the student being Boatright.

Boatright’s ability to score has never been questioned, but for the first time since his arrival in Storrs, the offense will run on his command. Head coach Kevin Ollie won’t expect him to be a distributor, but he will expect sound decision making and good shot selection. However, when the game is on the line, Boatright will be quick to show the country that he is one of the best scorers in college basketball.
