ACC: Top 5 Must-Watch Conference Games
By Jacob Rude
3. Louisville vs. Virginia, March 7
You want to talk about a day chock full of action. Likely before Duke and UNC face off, Louisville and Virginia will battle likely to decide to the ACC title. In reality, the ACC will likely be decided on this final day in either of these games, if not over the course of both of them. While Duke-UNC will be a fierce battle, the Cardinals-Cavaliers will be a match-up of top defenses.
The Cardinals, obviously led by Montrezl Harrell, are ranked 10th in the league in opponent points per game. Virginia comes in first. Fans of defense will be thrilled with this game. As is, Virginia is undefeated, although it’s highly unlikely they reach March 7 without a loss.
Louisville could very possibly come into the ACC in their first year and win the conference, although it will take a big-time effort in games like this. Considering this will take place on the final day of the regular season, the circumstances couldn’t be bigger. Worst-case scenario, this is still a fantastic match-up between two top defenses. Best case scenario, we see the ACC championship decided in Louisville.
Prediction: The home court aspect will be a big factor in this and I think Harrell will dominate. Louisville edges this one out 51-48.
Next: Virginia vs. Duke, January 31
