How Come Xavier Rathan-Mayes Scores Big Against UNC?

Florida State point guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes scores big against North Carolina because the Tar Heels can’t handle him.

More from ACC

It is really that simple! We already know that the Seminoles’ point guard hit North Carolina for 35 points and a Florida State freshman record last season when these two teams met up.

In this game Xavier Rathan-Mayes did everything he could to keep his team in the game, but did not have enough help from his supporting cast to grab FSU the upset.

Rathan-Mayes has improved his game this season by leading the entire ACC in assists averaging 5.8 per contest while still being able to score 11.0 points per game.

This season he has had to show more of his point guard skills because of players like Dwayne Bacon and Malik Beasley showing the type of offensive capability that they have to this point.

You really can’t say that his play has been strong enough to allow him to go pro after this season, but the improvement in his distribution says that he is a player who’s best basketball is still in front of him.
