12. 2009-10 Duke Blue Devils

This Duke team was not the most talented, but that’s why you have to admire them on another level. Coach Mike Krzyzewski took Brian Zoubek and Lance Thomas, and won a National Championship. He took Jon Scheyer and made him into an effective point guard in his senior season.

The Blue Devils went 35-5 overall and 13-3 in the ACC and won the program’s fourth title. While this is impressive enough, they also finished top 30 in both offensive and defensive points per game. Some may say their trip to the National Title game was easy, but no trip in the NCAA Tournament is ever easy.

They had a three headed attack with Scheyer (18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.9 assists), Nolan Smith (17.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists) and Kyle Singler (17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists ). The trio combined for 47 of the 61 points scored in the National Title game.

Their regular season was also capped with a 82-50 thrashing of rival North Carolina.
