8. 1998-99 Duke Blue Devils

Corey Maggette, Shane Battier and Elton Brand all played on one team together…at one time. If you didn’t have the pleasure of watching them at the time, you can only imagine how good they were together. Then there are the other players that didn’t have great pro careers, but thrived at Duke.

That includes Will Avery, Trajan Langdon and Chris Carrawell. All three put up great numbers for Duke but just failed to succeed after. Duke shredded teams, making it all the way to the championship but coming up just short to Connecticut.

The Blue Devils lost just one game during the year and went undefeated in ACC play. This team was very deep at each position and they knew how to play well together. They will go down as one of the best teams that failed to win a championship.
